The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) just announced that it’s holding a forum on June 4th to learn more about the threats to Smartphones and other mobile devices. (www.ftc.gov; “FTC to Host Public Forum on Threats to Mobile Devices”).  The FTC’s announcement was a call for papers from experts interested in participating in the forum.

The FTC wants experts who can discuss the threats to mobile devices from viruses and malware.  Participants will be asked to talk about the security of current and developing mobile technologies.  Additionally, the FTC wants to explore the roles various parties in the mobile ecosystem can play in providing even more protection to consumers from viruses, malware and other forms of security threats.

These are important and timely topics and I hope to attend the forum.  There’s no registration information yet but I’ll share that once it’s available.  The forum is free, open to the public and will be held at the FTC’s offices at 601 New Jersey Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C.
